A lifetime ago, my training department colleagues and I were satisfied with training data. We cranked out the requested ILT programs plus the "flavor of the year" content, we kept a busy training schedule, and made sure the coffee was always the right temperature. When accused of not delivering effective training because the learners didn't perform as they were trained, we took refuge in our management support role and not ultimately responsible or accountable for LEARNING or productivity.…

Hi everyone,
Here's my question for the panel: What advice would you give to someone just starting out to build their online business that you wish you had when you first started out?
Looking forward to it,
Alex
Be sure to listen to your prospects (i.e. potential clients) and "love" (i.e. become great at) selling (i.e. listening/responding respectfully to their needs) vs. pushing your perspective.
Thank you for the answer Paul! Would love to hear more about it but it seems quite important that you point out that we should not forget it's a business first before it is an online business.
Yes - there can be a tendency to avoid selling and hope that the technology will do that for us.
Duly noted, thank you for the advice!
Run hard and fail fast! Don't overthink it.
Terrific advice - guilty as charged!
Same here!
Steve Martin reportedly hypothesized:
"What if there were no punch lines? .... if I kept denying them the formality of a punch line, the audience would eventually pick their own place to laugh, essentially out of desperation.[18]"
Is this similar to inquiry-based learning? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Inquiry-based_learning
Hi Panelists:
The time is coming fast for your spotlight - this Thursday.
Can you please let us know the subtopic you want to to discuss as part of the value of validating an idea?
Be great to have this before Thursday so we can ensure everyone knows and can prepare.
Best,
Eric.
Hi Eric,
Looking forward to being one of the panelists this Thursday.
Confession time. I'm a recovering 'chicken'. I have tons of great ideas but I've been scared to implement them because...what if they don't work, or someone criticizes them, or someone challenges them? That's why in the past I've found it easier to just think about ideas and not actually implement them.
But, I have found that 90% out the door is better than 100% in the drawer. My sub-topic then would be around:
Chris - perfect questions for this conference.
