The Conscience of Society

  • What are the specific areas where literacy improvement is most needed?
  • What are the primary challenges that hinder literacy improvement in these areas?
  • Aside from the use of technology what can you suggest as innovative and cost-effective methods to improve literacy in these areas?
  • Who plays a role in enhancing literacy and how can the role be more effective?
  • What non-monetary resources or support systems could be utilized to enhance literacy efforts?
  • What are some new ways to measure and track progress in literacy improvement initiatives?

During this session we will provide an overview for each of the sessions listed below.

The Plus-BYOL-Plus format includes:

  1. An online discussion group for each topic - managed by moderators
  2. Moderators to stimulate interest in the topic - before, during, and after the event
  3. Topical relevant humor via humorists or video
  4. Panelists who briefly offer their perspective and then learn in a breakout room
  5. "Remarkable" speakers who listen without speaking until the very end when they report on what they learned by reading the online discussions and observing the panelists and breakout rooms.
  6. You  - in any of the above rules and/or via your online engagement via comments.

Darryl Johnson offered a powerful and simple perspective on "Literacy" - Comprehension. One may be able to read, write, calculate, converse - and yet to they comprehend and do those they engage with - comprehend. Thank you, Darryl.
