What Are You Measuring?

A lifetime ago, my training department colleagues and I were satisfied with training data. We cranked out the requested ILT programs plus the "flavor of the year" content, we kept a busy training schedule, and made sure the coffee was always the right temperature. When accused of not delivering effective training because the learners didn't perform as they were trained, we took refuge in our management support role and not ultimately responsible or accountable for LEARNING or productivity.…

Session Leader: Paul Terlemezian

Recently, I read, heard, dreamed, or made up that it is difficult for people in their 70's., 80's, or older to become hired for their talents. I decided that it is our fault if this happens to us - and that we would be better off acting our age...and I thought of three things we could do at this age that makes us quite valuable and that could not be done as well by someone younger than us.

  1. We don't need (or want a boss) or the money they might pay us to compromise our values
  2. We are willing to work on very important things that might take longer to accomplish than the time we have left.
  3. We are willing to defer our payment until those we have helped have realized the benefits of our help

As a result of this thinking, I am recruiting a team of Supernova's willing to do this work. I am eager for your help to turn this "dream" into a reality!

Participants:

ReachoutAbout Format

  1. Welcome and introductions
  2. Session A – 10 minutes – Paul will present his idea/interests
  3. Session B – 10 minutes – Open Q&A with the group focused on clarification from Paul
  4. Session C – 10 minutes - Paul is muted and off-camera as the group talks about what it thinks could be done to address Paul's interests
  5. Session D – 10 Minutes – Paul returns and leads open conversation about next steps (potentially to include research, online discussion, and another (closure?) meeting.)

Here are the Zoom details for this session:
