A lifetime ago, my training department colleagues and I were satisfied with training data. We cranked out the requested ILT programs plus the "flavor of the year" content, we kept a busy training schedule, and made sure the coffee was always the right temperature. When accused of not delivering effective training because the learners didn't perform as they were trained, we took refuge in our management support role and not ultimately responsible or accountable for LEARNING or productivity.…

Good morning all. I'm truly looking forward to this discussion. Point to ponder: When COVID-19 began its spread across the US, we were in a reactive mode regarding learning. Are we still in a reactive mode, or do you think we've caught up and are now devising learning strategy that would see us anticipate possible outcomes for the post COVID-19 shift?
If we were in reactive mode (and I think we were) - what does this tell us about the learning models we have been using that promised us we would be prepared if we used them?
I wonder what models (if any) exist to accelerate and sustain proactive learning strategies?
In the traditional sense, Instructional Design is a cumbersome process. I believe we need a hybrid approach that will achieve the same outcomes we seek, but is flexible enough to provide a rapid means of development. We need to examine and prioritize the outcomes and what they should look like to meet the current learning demand.
