What Are You Measuring?

Posted by Bill Crose on September 13, 2019 at 11:33am 1 Comment

A lifetime ago, my training department colleagues and I were satisfied with training data. We cranked out the requested ILT programs plus the "flavor of the year" content, we kept a busy training schedule, and made sure the coffee was always the right temperature. When accused of not delivering effective training because the learners didn't perform as they were trained, we took refuge in our management support role and not ultimately responsible or accountable for LEARNING or productivity.…

What is the opposite of innovation? Might it be stagnation?

How do we know something is an innovation?

This session will be the traditional Georgia LEARNS Plus-BYOL-Plus format:

  • First 15 minutes: The humorists will share their perspective on the topic of innovation.
  • Each panelist then has one minute (30 seconds is better) to share their perspective
  • After the final panelist has spoken - each panelist will go to their own breakout room
  • Engaged participants may move from breakout room to breakout room as they please
  • The Remarkable Speaker will listen until the final 10 minutes when we will all return to the main room and hear what the Remarkable Speaker learned by listening to everyone else.

Moderator: Larry Doiron

Humorist: Choice of You-Tube Videos

Panelists:

  • Eric Bluestein
  • Walt Carter
  • Vontarius Falls
  • Bob Norton

The opposite of innovation is stability.  We need both in business, to set a strong foundation for the next round of innovation.

Might we need to innovate in order to maintain stability?

I wonder if there are there is a continuum with stagnation at one end, stability (equilibrium in the center,) and constant innovation at the other extreme?
