What Are You Measuring?

Posted by Bill Crose on September 13, 2019 at 11:33am 1 Comment

A lifetime ago, my training department colleagues and I were satisfied with training data. We cranked out the requested ILT programs plus the "flavor of the year" content, we kept a busy training schedule, and made sure the coffee was always the right temperature. When accused of not delivering effective training because the learners didn't perform as they were trained, we took refuge in our management support role and not ultimately responsible or accountable for LEARNING or productivity.…

The Surprisingly Simple Cheat Codes for Happiness, Creativity, and Human Performance.

If you are human, there is something in this session for you.

We live in a world of algorithms. Relatively simple pieces of logic and actions that govern everything. We talk about them on social media, marketing, sales, etc. But, we, as humans, operate on some simple algorithms as well. And once you know them and how to objectively look at how humans act and do what they do, you will be a better leader. Or the algorithms of happiness, which if you know them, will let you be happier. The algorithms of learning and thinking.

Once you know these algorithms, and the surprising simplicity of them, you will begin operating at a higher level than you ever did before.

And it can all be explained in an hour. This session will be highly interactive with some lecture and then questions and discussion. Then some more lecture. And more discussions.

We will touch on the following topics:

Authenticity, vulnerability, transparency, empathy, community, happiness, fear, anxiety, anger, doubt, guilt, shame, the limbic system, your cortex, your senses, thoughts, feedback, validation, acceptance, rejection, ambition, ADHD, Autism, mania, psychedelics, neurodiversity, parenting, looping and conditionals, and more.

Session Leader: Steve Benfield

The format of this session will be:

  1. Five minutes of welcome and introductions
  2. Segment A - Ten minutes of listening to the interests and perceptions of those who wish to learn about the Cheat Codes For Life with Steve off-camera and muted.
  3. Segment B - Ten minutes of lecture by Steve.
  4. Segment C - Ten minutes of listening to the reactions to the lecture while Steve is off-camera and muted.
