What Are You Measuring?

Posted by Bill Crose on September 13, 2019 at 11:33am 1 Comment

A lifetime ago, my training department colleagues and I were satisfied with training data. We cranked out the requested ILT programs plus the "flavor of the year" content, we kept a busy training schedule, and made sure the coffee was always the right temperature. When accused of not delivering effective training because the learners didn't perform as they were trained, we took refuge in our management support role and not ultimately responsible or accountable for LEARNING or productivity.…

Sales is not a numbers game.  We all know that. What prevents us from understanding our prospect’s unique personality? Are we sure that we are tailoring our sales pitch to them? How would we know for sure and how do we recover if we failed to effectively do so? Is it easier to revert to a numbers game?

Session Leader: Eric Goodman

The format of this session will be:

  1. Five minutes of welcome and introductions
  2. Segment A - Ten minutes of listening to the interests and perceptions of those who wish to learn about the Sales Numbers Game Challenge with Eric off-camera and muted.
  3. Segment B - Ten minutes of formal presentation regarding the Sales Numbers Game Challenge by Eric.
  4. Segment C - Ten minutes of listening to the reactions to the formal presentation while Eric is off-camera and muted.
  5. Segment D - Ten minutes of open conversation including Eric.

Eric, thank you for volunteering to lead this session. I am eager to learn from it and have these questions (and answers) on my mind:

  • Do buyers wish to feel like they are just a “numbers game” to the seller? - probably not
  • Are they willing to have their personality traits be revealed to the buyer? - perhaps but with caution?
  • How might they react if the seller got it right? Or wrong? - What would the seller like?
  • How can they assure they get the right solution -independent of the salesperson’s ability to “get it right?” - Isn't this what all buyers and sellers want?

Thanks for the great questions from the buyers perspective and I'd add the broader question of Why they buy?   Look forward to the session and thanks for the opportunity!
