What Are You Measuring?

Posted by Bill Crose on September 13, 2019 at 11:33am 1 Comment

A lifetime ago, my training department colleagues and I were satisfied with training data. We cranked out the requested ILT programs plus the "flavor of the year" content, we kept a busy training schedule, and made sure the coffee was always the right temperature. When accused of not delivering effective training because the learners didn't perform as they were trained, we took refuge in our management support role and not ultimately responsible or accountable for LEARNING or productivity.…

Hi Everyone. Happy to help with this initiative!

My email address is Pete@mylearnie.com

for students to download our Community Microlearning app they can go to www.mylearnie.com and choose the link for their phone (android or apple).

I can set up a private cohort for this class that will allow the students to create the microlearning and share that in the cohort. David - I can make you the admin - so if you can download the app and register with your email - then let me know by email that you have done that I will assign a private cohort to your email that your students will all use as well.

I look forward to working with you on this!

Dave,

We created Georgia LEARNS because we felt a need to shift the focus of Instructional Design in the workplace to identify with business outcomes vs. content creation. The need to recognize this comes from outside our industry and from C-Level executives. Our industry has become defensive…and is losing the battle for credibility with these C-Level executives.

We have observed that within K12 and perhaps even Higher Ed there is a necessary focus on content creation and dissemination to assure credentialing. In the workplace – credentialing is necessary too – but not for what you know – it is for what you can prove you can do. While knowledge is important – also important are experiences, relationships, and business outcomes (vs. learning outcomes.)

  • The Kirkpatrick Model and the ADDIE model have been “staples” of the workplace learning industry for decades – and have defied adaptation….while we lose the battle.
  • Mosher-Gottfredson – Moments of Need https://learningsolutionsmag.com/articles/949/are-you-meeting-all-f... is one of the more recent frameworks for the workplace learning industry – and has become a tool for its inventors to motivate the use of EPSS (Electronic Performance Support Systems.)
  • Eric has offered to introduce you to Bill Crose – I highly recommend you speak with Bill as he has invested his time and personal wealth to bring to market an EPSS system that has adapted to concepts such as mobility and analytics.

Beginning in 2009 I began to speak publicly using an adaptable analogy that would compare learning to transportation via comparison to the GPS (an EPSS for transportation.) This brief summary and the comments describe how this analogy has been adapted…http://ifivealliances.ning.com/profiles/blogs/social-learning-truth...

The Georgia LEARNS community has brought together learning leaders (across the spectrum of learning – PreK, K12, Higher Ed, Workplace, Military/Police, Personal) and business leaders (Private investors, Executive Directors of Nonprofits, Corporate Business/Learning Leaders, and Industry Consultants) to initially build relationship with the intent of solving problems. Along the way we evolved to focus on the concept of “Performance Assurance” and developed an adaptable framework for integration with any instructional design model. The framework is “adaptable” and the outputs of the framework are “adaptable.” Here is a link to the story of this Framework – the ALO - http://georgialearnsnow.ning.com/forum/topics/segment-7-17-alo-anno...

Dave, I hope you will challenge our thinking and work with us to create future leaders in instructional design for the workplace. Are you willing to consider the following:

  1. Offering a TeachAbout to the Georgia LEARNS Community on ROI or some other topic for which you would like to establish your credibility
  2. Participating in Georgia LEARNS 2022 - http://georgialearnsnow.ning.com/page/georgia-learns-2022
  3. Developing an ongoing relationship between your students and the Georgia LEARNS community

Do any of these interest you?
