We cranked out the requested ILT programs plus the "flavor of the year" content, we kept a busy training schedule, and made sure the coffee was always the right temperature. When accused of not delivering effective training because the learners didn't perform as they were trained, we took refuge in our management support role and not ultimately responsible or accountable for LEARNING or productivity.…

Most of us have experienced the technology consumer series of responses to emerging tech from ignoring it, to being afraid of it, to being consumed by it.

How do I avoid being consumed and yet retain relevance?

Session Leader: Shaun Thompson

Shaun will lead this session - because he is always open to learning.

The format of this LearnAbout session will be:

  1. Shaun will explain what he wishes to learn about - and why
  2. He will ask each of you why you attended - to learn? to teach? something else?
  3. He will then guide the session around what he is willing to learn from you

Topic: GLN 2023 - LearnAbout - Avoiding Tech Disconnect
Time: Nov 17, 2023 12:00 PM Eastern Time (US and Canada)

Shaun - Funny story - I recently had a leadership course where they explained the distractions of devices and notifications, with its harm to how well we are able to focus, and then had us turn off all our notifications.  I had a wonderful few days until my family started complaining that I wasn't picking up my phone!  (Oops - turned off too many of those notifications.)  :)
