A lifetime ago, my training department colleagues and I were satisfied with training data. We cranked out the requested ILT programs plus the "flavor of the year" content, we kept a busy training schedule, and made sure the coffee was always the right temperature. I recall a story about the study that was done during WWII to improve the ability of planes to survive attack. The study was of the bullet holes in the planes that returned. A Zig-Zag thinker challenged this thinking by saying "Don't we need to be studying the planes that didn't make it back?"
How do we avoid the "streetlight effect?"
97% of people think they are above average leaders - so roughly half of them are wrong...I hope the right half were interviewed.
