What Are You Measuring?

Posted by Bill Crose on September 13, 2019 at 11:33am 1 Comment

A lifetime ago, my training department colleagues and I were satisfied with training data. We cranked out the requested ILT programs plus the "flavor of the year" content, we kept a busy training schedule, and made sure the coffee was always the right temperature. When accused of not delivering effective training because the learners didn't perform as they were trained, we took refuge in our management support role and not ultimately responsible or accountable for LEARNING or productivity.…

The purpose of the GLN SomethingAbout is to experiment with a small group conversation format that would leverage the potential energy created by differing perspectives. Here is the format

  1. Offer a public conversation stimulated by the curated work of the Daily Drucker for the date of the conversation (this offers some level or randomness and objectivity.) Daily Drucker October 30 Fund Development in the Nonprofit
  2. Two session leaders would each invite two or three people that know the one that invited them well and probably do not know much about the other one.
  3. The two session leaders engage in a 5–10-minute open conversation on the Drucker topic.
  4. The session leaders go to a separate breakout room to listen to the those who wish to learn more from them and/or influence their perspective. Invitees may go to either room and move between rooms.
  5. When the breakout rooms close – everyone returns to the main room, and the session leaders summarize what they learned by listening in the breakout.
  6. The conversation closes with each participant being offered the opportunity to state what they learned and what they are committed to do SomethingAbout.
  7. The session leaders and invitees convene in a follow up meeting to propose what to do next/

Lutzie43 (Mike Lutzenkirchen) and Georgia LEARNS Now (Paul Terlemezian) have been collaborating since 2018. Mike and Paul have a friendship that began in 1997. Mike hired Paul to take the role of Southeast District Manager for Catapult Software Training (an entity owned by IBM.) Mike is one of the best, perhaps the best leaders I have had the honor to be led by.

Lutzie43 focuses on eliminating death and injury related to distracted driving with an emphasis on the human element,

Mike works mostly with athletes and academic entities across the USA to deliver his message. He wishes to increase his impact via the academic entities, corporations, and the 150 plus PFL Scholarship recipients who have benefited from Lutzie43 Scholarships. Paul wishes to apply the ALO to accelerate Lutzie 43's impact.

Please reply with your comments and/or attend this session.
