What Are You Measuring?

Posted by Bill Crose on September 13, 2019 at 11:33am 2 Comments

A lifetime ago, my training department colleagues and I were satisfied with training data. We cranked out the requested ILT programs plus the "flavor of the year" content, we kept a busy training schedule, and made sure the coffee was always the right temperature. When accused of not delivering effective training because the learners didn't perform as they were trained, we took refuge in our management support role and not ultimately responsible or accountable for LEARNING or productivity.…

Session Leader: Paul Terlemezian

Recently I played Monopoly with a Gen Z friend of my daughter. Each player makes up the rules for their turn each time it is their turn. We had a great time and I am eager to play this way again. Why do you think this was fun? Why is permission (e,g,, following the rules) required - normally. How might a Permissionless Perspective be less expensive, higher quality, and a quicker solution for elusive challenges?

The format of this session will be:

  1. Five minutes of welcome and introductions
  2. Segment A - Ten minutes of listening to the interests and perceptions of those who wish to learn about The Permissionless Perspective with Paul off-camera and muted.
  3. Segment B - Ten minutes of formal presentation by Paul regarding the Permissionless Perspective.
  4. Segment C - Ten minutes of listening to the reactions to the formal presentation while Paul is off-camera and muted.
  5. Segment D - Ten minutes of open conversation including Paul.

Here are the Zoom details for this session:

This session was inspired by an article titled the Permissionless Corporation that was sent to me by Pete Peterson. This article describes how corporations are flattening hierarchy and inspiring performance by reducing the "burden" of permission.

My optimism for this approach is tempered by the wisdom of Mike Blake's laws of IP. I wonder of Law 6 - success will be attacked - would prevent a permissionless perspective to survive?

What do you believe is true? What do you wish were true?
