What Are You Measuring?

A lifetime ago, my training department colleagues and I were satisfied with training data. We cranked out the requested ILT programs plus the "flavor of the year" content, we kept a busy training schedule, and made sure the coffee was always the right temperature. When accused of not delivering effective training because the learners didn't perform as they were trained, we took refuge in our management support role and not ultimately responsible or accountable for LEARNING or productivity.…

This session will be offered multiple times as I anticipate that the conversation be different each time. The use of professional discipline breakout rooms will be an option at each session.

  • Tuesday, December 3, 8:00 AM and 5:00 PM
  • Wednesday, December 4, 8:00 AM
  • Thursday, December 5, 8:00 AM and 4:00 PM
  • Tuesday, December 10, 8:00 AM and 4:00 PM
  • Wednesday, December 11, 8:00 AM and 4:00 PM
  • Thursday, December 12, 8:00 AM and 4:00 PM

The primary purpose of these sessions will be to launch the succession planning process for Georgia LEARNS. The process is currently envisioned as:

  1. The creation of at least 6 small groups (5 to 10 people) willing to meet periodically to discuss what the leadership of their professional discipline may be 10, 20, 50, or 100 years from now. The purpose of these meetings is to build relationship and trust while expressing strong differences of opinion.
  2. Each of these groups will choose a leader and co-leader for a term decided by each group.
  3. These leaders and co-leaders will meet as part of a newly formed Georgia LEARNS Executive Leadership Council. This Leadership Council will determine the succession plan for Georgia LEARNS.
  4. There will be an annual meeting for the entirety of these small groups.
  5. We anticipate that projects will emerge from this structure.
  6. We anticipate integrating college students into the projects via other Georgia LEARNS relationships.
  7. We anticipate integrating nonprofit entities into the projects via other Georgia LEARNS relationships.

You may influence the process and express interest in being a member of a small group by:

  • Adding comments to this discussion
  • Attending any of the Future of Leadership Sessions at Georgia LEARNS 2024
  • Contacting Paul Terlemezian pault@ifivealliances.com or 404-385-8411

We anticipate forming the following small groups:

  • The Future of Learning Leadership
  • The Future of Legal Leadership
  • The Future of Marketing Leadership
  • The Future of Military Leadership
  • The Future of Nonprofit Leadership
  • The Future of Political Leadership
  • The Future of Religious Leadership
  • The Future of Sales Leadership
  • The Future of Technology Leadership
