Georgia LEARNS 2020 - The Creation of Value for Others – Our Choice of What, How and Why

Georgia LEARNS 2020 will occur on November 11, 12 and 13 of 2020.

As our families, communities, organizations, nation and world seek to understand a series of events like most of us have never experienced before we are also offered the opportunity to understand more about ourselves and others.

It is "easy" to be "civil" when things are going our way. It is "easy" to be concerned when things are not going our way and seem to be going well for others. What is "easy" to be when everyone has a reason to believe that things are not going their way?

What if each of us consciously chose to use our capabilities and character to create value for others? What would we do differently? How would we do it? Why would we do it?

What would make this difficult to believe or difficult to do? Our perspective is that if you are "learning" or being "taught" with an outcome in mind and you have not yet achieved the outcome you desire - then - you have not yet learned. Our efforts to "learn" and/or "teach" - which often occur simultaneously include adaptation related to our:

  1. Experiences (past, present and future)
  2. Knowledge (past, present and future)
  3. Relationships (past, present and future)
  4. Outcomes (past, present and future)

Georgia LEARNS 2020 - The Creation of Value for Others - Our Choice of What, How and Why

Hundreds of one-on-one conversations have influenced the agenda for Georgia LEARNS 2020. We are pleased to announce a series of BYOL Plus Panel Discussions - Delivered Virtually. Each topic in the agenda below is linked to an online discussion related to the topic.

BYOL Plus Definition: BYOL – The Bring Your Own Learning panel format was introduced by Georgia LEARNS in 2015.

  • Panelists have up to two minutes (30 seconds would be fine) to present questions related to what they want to learn from the audience as well as present what they believe the audience can learn from the panelist's experience.
  • Each panel is followed by 20-30 minute breakout discussion sessions.
  • In 2016 we improved BYOL by concluding each segment with the “Plus” - a 5 to 10 minute closing presentation by a “Remarkable” speaker who will describe what they learned from the panelists and breakouts.
  • Critical to the success of the panel is the moderator role. The moderator stimulates interaction before and after the event via the online discussions for each segment. During the event the moderator manages the panel and the sequence of activities for the panel. They also monitor the online discussion and encourage people to submit their ideas into it.

Engaged Participants: You play the most important role in the success of this conference. Specifically:

  1. Your willingness to read and comment in the online discussions - before, during and after the conference provides perpetual value to everyone - especially you.
  2. Your selection of which segments to attend helps us determine the relevance of the agenda.
  3. The breakout room that you choose during the BYOL Plus Panels provides immediate feedback to each panelist of the resonance of their two minutes (30 seconds would be fine) "presentation."
  4. Your willingness to leave a breakout room if the conversation is not providing the expected value is important feedback to the panelist - and 100% aligned with the expectations of Georgia LEARNS!!!
  5. And most important - your willingness to respectfully ask questions - especially if you do not agree or understand the perspective of the panelist - is how you can help accelerate effective learning for yourself, the other engaged participants, the panelist, the moderator - and the Remarkable Speaker !
