GLN 2022 Planning

This is the planning page for Georgia LEARNS 2022.

Please comment on the following plans:

  1. Live virtual conference - November 9, 10, and 11
  2. In-person conference - November 12, 13, 14, and 15

The virtual conference is likely to be a variation of BYOL similar to what we have done in the past. What changes or improvements do you suggest be considered?

March 25, 2022 Update:

I am considering a theme: "Learning as a Way of Leading" (Preskill and Brookfield) that motivates these topics:

  1. Open – be radically open to hearing new ideas from others
  2. Critical Reflection – increase self-awareness by understanding your reaction to radical ideas from others
  3. Growth of Others – focus on supporting others efforts to reach their full potential
  4. Collective Leadership – identify a shared vision and then everyone has a leadership role in achieving the vision
  5. Analyze Experience – appreciate the value of everyone’s experience
  6. Questions  - constructively and discerningly – with inquisitiveness and humility – resulting in hard, insightful questions
  7. Democracy – small group settings where every voice is heard and invited to add value
  8. Hope in the Face of Struggle – construction of a positive future despite the persistence of injustices and inequities
  9. Community – the result of the encompassing the above with morality, strategy, and tactics

The In-person conference is in response to the suggestions offered during the 2022 Planning Session at Georgia LEARNS 2021.

What ideas do you have to improve the following concept:

  1. Each segment on November 12, 13, 14, and 15 will have a single focus
  2. The purpose of the segment will be to co-create a solution using the ALO
  3. Each segment will include potential or actual qualified funding sources

March 25, 2022 Update

The segments on November 12, 13, 14, and 15 will focus on projects related to the Non Profit entities recognized by Georgia LEARNS since our first conference in 2011.

Love this list!

Loving the topics and hope to be able to learn a lot during the conference.

The theme is perfect. One could argue good leadership IS learning so perhaps Leading by Learning? Learning is Leading?

Also, rather than the word morality, under the community line, what do you think about ethics instead?

I'm so happy we get to be a hybrid event this year. Thanks!

Donna

Thank you Dawn, Brent, and Donna.

Donna - would you be willing to say something more regarding ethics instead of morality?

I like the Theme and the topics:

I love the idea of virtual experience and the in-person experience - I am wondering if there is a way of combining the two ( to make the conference a hybrid experience) over a period of 3/4 days?  You would deliver this in a shorter period of time...

I can see how you may want to focus on projects in the non-profit sector - I am curious what a combination of not-for-profit and for-profit would like... Could a combined focus meet the needs of attendees from the two sectors?

Thank you Mary - I am wide open to any thoughts regarding hybrid. Neicey Johnson offered an excellent TeachAbout regarding how not-for-profit and for-profit might collaborate. This is consistent with the purpose of Georgia LEARNS.
