GL 2012 Panel: Georgia Shape

Desired outcomes/objectives for the panel on Georgia Shape:

  1. We want the executives in attendance to be intrigued about the potential for Collaboration with Georgia Shape so that better results can be experienced related to reductions in Childhood Obesity in Georgia.
  2. We want each panelist to express in three to five minutes their opinion about Childhood Obesity
  3. As a result of the above we want the attendees to be interested in helping to advance the Georgia Shape effort by
    1. Participating in a breakout session on Childhood Obesity
    2. Engaging a panelist one-on-one
    3. Expressing an opinion on this ning site
    4. We are expecting ad hoc Collaboration to emerge amongst the attendees –where specific projects are initiated or enhanced
    5. There will be specific Childhood Obesity oriented projects that attendees will be invited to engage in

    • Online learning is a powerul tool to get knowledge to those who needit.
    • telemedicine has practical use in delivering expertise where it wouldn't be available
    • Georgia SHAPE focus 60% of it's efforts on schools
    • One of the challenges with corporate funding is setting expecations.  Their time frame for ROI is shorter than is realistic in changing habits and seeing results.
    • It's helpful for organizations to expect a 3-5 year ROI
    • HealthMpowers is delivering nutrition content
    • there are inequities in schools.  some schools only have one piece of equipment.
    • Sell Peak performance, instead of wellness
    • incentive programs are helpful
    • 2-1 smart phones to computers
