I worked on a project at UnitedHealthcare to blockchain professional skills via internal badging and educational institutions/universities. The goal was to accelerate selection decisions (hiring, promotion, work assignments...) and improve selection success through skill verification. It was a promising project. Some universities were already working on badging initiatives, foremost being University of Indiana. The UPCEA (University Professional Continuing Education Association) was exploring badging at the time, but I haven't heard much about it recently. The project didn't get approval to move beyond an internal badging test, which didn't include blockchain tech.
